I enjoy learning and sharing/teaching in many areas. After my first degree, I entered into biological field work for a year, but found it unsatisfying. I started working for myself and learning new skills, free-lancing as an independent contractor. At first challenging and fun, it became less so over the years and I found myself debating between going back to school in teaching or nursing.
I enjoy working one on one with people to achieve mutual goals. I began teaching as a substitute at our University Laboratory High School, where I learned lesson planning and honed teaching skills with an exciting population of motivated youth. Primarily regarded as the Earth Science long-term sub for the sub-freshmen, the 7th-8th graders, I also subbed for any subject. I enjoyed my experience and continued to learn and grow as a teacher. Recently, I have gone back to school and have become a nurse, but my love for teaching still calls me. I love seeing former students out, years later, and feeling their appreciation.
My deep appreciation of nature, our own and our world, drives my curiosity to learn and my enthusiasm to share with others. I respect and value individual differences that make us unique, and this has served me well in my various roles. Going back to school and entering the nursing profession has been challenging for me, yet seeking out appropriate challenges has helped me grow. My understanding and appreciation of how things work inside and out is what I hope to share with tutoring. My goal lies in discovering what motivates another and how they learn best.
We are all individuals with different needs and goals. I have a diverse background and am open to learning more about you and your needs. Please contact me with any questions, to learn more, or to schedule an appointment. I will ask for a 24 hr notice in changing a scheduled session, but will not charge for any appointment that is not mutually beneficial. I enjoy learning and sharing/teaching in many areas. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
