My goal is to help you develop your quantitative skills and building a complete conceptual understanding of the underlying physics/math. I employ a question/examples-based technique to make sure my students have a thorough and complete understanding of the concepts. These questions lead the student to a preliminary model in their head, at which point I ask them to "manipulate" this model until it becomes apparent to them which equations to use and how to use them. Ultimately, I want to help students develop their own personal toolbag of handy tricks and memorization schemes which can help greatly with taking exams.
I have found that this technique has been extremely effective in helping students learn to work through problems themselves. This kind of problem solving is useful in the "real world" as well; you will be able to solve almost any problem with these techniques.
My #1 goal when tutoring is to give my students the confidence to complete their homework and ace their exams also trying to infect them with the enthusiasm and deep passion that I have for physics and math. I aim to be a patient and empathetic mentor that can be relied on for support as well as knowledge.
