Hi! My name is Brittany and I am a graduate student. In the past, I taught ESL to K-5 & 6-8 students. Prior to transitioning to the elementary level I taught 6-8 grade Math & Language Arts inclusion classes. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology/Spanish with a K-12 license to teach ESL and earned a Masters in Educational Psychology. Teaching inclusion classes has provided me with experience teaching learners who are unique and need extra assistance to be successful.
I have been tutoring for about 7+ years now and absolutely love it. My tutoring style is very unique. I use a lot of visual aids as I'm a visual learner myself. I also enjoy making difficult material more comprehensible by using simple steps to help students achieve success. I have a very outgoing & patient personality that often comes in handy when tutoring. I like to make learning enjoyable for all individuals involved. Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching ESL for more than 3 years now in the public schools. I absolutely love what I do and enjoy giving others the opportunity to make their lives a little easier in the US. I have studied another language for about 5 years now and understand the complex process of learning another language. I am very patient and thorough in my lessons. I cover the bigger topics such as linguistics, vocabulary, phonics, and writing. I can also specialize the lessons to better suit individual needs.
