University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (French, Math)
I attended the University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign and earned a BA in French Education, with a minor in Math Education in 1975. I have a 9-12 teaching certificate registered in Champaign county. I have three years teaching experience, teaching French, Algebra and pre-Algebra. However, I no longer teach in the public school system. I prefer to work one-on-one with students. Algebra and Trigonometry are my forte, and even though it has been quite some time since I have taught in the public school system, I have tutored many students over the years in basic math, pre-Algebra and Algebra. I am 57 years old and am a very patient teacher. I realize that students do not necessarily understand everything the first time it is explained, and I am patient and am very willing to explain and teach until understanding is achieved. I presently work a full-time job, and I work second shift. I realize that students may want to tutor in the evenings, but I would be available Friday evenings and on the weekends. Perhaps on the weekend, we could not only cover problems that were encountered during the week, but we could look ahead at material that would be covered in the coming week. Please note that I am able to tutor in other subject areas besides mathematics.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a former Algebra teacher. I have enjoyed Algebra ever since my first course in high school.

I got a degree in secondary education with a minor in math (I have taught 7th and 8th grade Algebra and high school math). I have tutored elementary students in math (not through Wyzant but privately). I have also taught 4th through 8th grade French, so I am able to teach that age group.
I am a former Illinois certified Math teacher for grades 6-12. However, I have tutored Math students from early grade school through college. I am a very patient teacher and am able to explain concepts so that students can understand them.
