Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (Chemistry)
Indiana University (PhD)
I am a friendly person. I like math and chemistry and enjoy helping students understand these subjects better. I have three years experience tutoring these subjects at the college level. I began tutoring after I retired from the software industry. I also taught freshman chemistry for two years, when I was in graduate school at Indiana University. My most recent tutoring experience was in 2014 working in the Math Center at Lincoln Land Community College.
It has been brought to my attention that being able to reduce a problem to simpler sub-problems is a good approach to solving the problem at hand. Also, in both chemistry and math, being able to work problems is key in understanding the subject matter in these fields. It is my job to help you do this. The thing I like about tutoring the most, is seeing a student gain an understanding of how to work a problem that they were previously unable to do. (Seeing that little light of understanding come on!)
I am an outstanding math tutor because I like the subject matter and want to help you overcome any obstacles you have in understanding the subject. As an undergraduate, I minored in math.
I am an outstanding chemistry tutor because I like chemistry and want to help give you a better understanding of this fascinating area of science.
Contact me and I will help you improve your understanding of these areas and as a result, get better grades in math and chemistry. I am a friendly person. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor algebra 1, because took a course in it as an undergraduate. I earned an A in the course. I also tutored the subject for 3 years quite recently.
I am qualified to tutor algebra 2, because I studied it when I was an undergraduate at SIU. I received an A in the class. Additionally, I tutored the subject for three years. Math is one of my favorite subjects.
1)previous experience tutoring calculus
2)minored in math as an undergraduate
I am qualified to tutor chemistry because I have both a B.S. and a Ph.D. in this subject. I also have 3 years experience tutoring chemistry. Finally, I am qualified because I have an interest in the subject.
As an undergraduate, I minored in math. I had two quarters of differential equations. I received an A for the first quarter and a B for the second quarter. I also have a personal interest in the subject, and have done some self study on the subject.
I am qualified to tutor trigonometry because as an undergraduate I minored in mathematics. My minor included my taking an algebra/trigonometry course. I earned an A in the class.
