About Kaitlin

My name is Kaitlin O., and I'm a 29 year old math nerd. I began tutoring when I was in National Honors Society in high school and have been doing it ever since. I’ve tutored students from middle school age all the way up to college students and have had great success with all of them.

In college, I tutored fellow students in math at the Learning Lab at Lincoln Land Community College. After having graduated with my Associate’s in Mathematics and studied secondary education, I went on to the University of Illinois at Springfield where I took courses in adolescent psychology and education. During my time at UIS I participated in the Concert Band and played the euphonium. In 2010, I was recognized for my work with the Better Bag Project and my engaged citizenship at UIS. During this time I had to switch from full-time student status to part-time student status due to financial circumstances. I never stopped pursuing my degree though, and finally finished my B.A. in mathematics in December 2014. I currently am going back to school and am taking courses in pursuit of becoming a CPA.

I tutored on and off during my entire college career, both to help fund my education and for fun! I enjoyed tutoring from the moment I started back when I was only 17, and I enjoy it even more now that I can impart knowledge on to the next generation. I prefer the learning experience to be one of exploration and discovery and have found that the most significant learning experiences come from when students acquire the answers themselves.

I am available nearly every day from 10am to 10pm, with the exception of a few hours here and there where I am attending class. I am also available for both in-person and online tutoring. I am also willing to travel within the Springfield, IL area to meet students. I do have a two hour cancellation policy and reserve the right to charge for short notice cancellations.

I have been a tutor with Wyzant for nearly two years and have been the top ranked tutor in mathematics for the Springfield area. Please contact me about any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!

Kaitlin is the best.

Kaitlin helped my son raise 40 points in the placement test at LLCC. He will be starting at college level math. So he doesn't need to take any remedial classes. Kaitlin is a wonderful tutor. She is very approachable. She explains the material in ways that helps you understand it better. Also she is very patient with her students. You need to be charging more, Kaitlin.
