If you are looking for an experienced, friendly, and results driven tutor, I'm your guy. I am a professionally-trained tutor with almost two decades of experience helping students with test prep, study skills, math, science, language arts, and a variety of other academic subjects. I have worked with individuals with special needs, students on the accelerated/honors track, and just about everyone else you can think of. Together, you and I will work hard to achieve the success you desire, and make sure you are prepared and confident in the classroom and on test day.
I prefer to tutor in my home in Springfield, IL, but I am willing to travel to schools, libraries, coffee shops, or your home. A typical tutoring session will last either 1 and 2 hours, depending on your needs and preferences.
Tutoring hours --
• Sat/Sun 8am-8pm
• Weekdays 9am-5pm
• Other times by request
I am a 33 year old former attorney, substitute teacher, test prep course instructor, and camp counselor. I left behind my life as an attorney when my daughter was born so I could have a more flexible work-life balance, and focus on my passion - helping students in a one-on-one setting achieve the results they are willing to work toward. I graduated from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) in 1999, Brown University in 2003, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 2007. I scored in the 99th percentile on my PSATs, SATs, and LSATs. I look forward to meeting you!

Mike is able to explain to my child the steps in solving word problem and made sure she gets it at the end of the lesson.
Michael helped my son prepare for taking a police exam. He took the time to educate himself on the testing process as part of providing assistance to my son...the sign of an engaged tutor.
Since he has been helping my boys, their grades have improved and their test taking skills have improved! I am so grateful that he is helping them. I don't know what I would do without his help.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
