southwestern illinois college (Social Work)
Hi everyone! My name is Rachel and I am a certified Paraprofessional in the state of Illinois. I am currently looking for any chance to get more experience. It's my passion to work with students to give them the right kind of help and guidance in their studies or anything they are passionate about as well! I also am Adult and Child CPR Certified and have Crisis Prevention Institute training for working with children that have behavioral disorders. I am also currently employed at an elementary school, so I have experience working around and with children of all ages!
I tutor my kids in an after school care program at an elementary school and have my Illinois Paraprofessional Certification as well. They also think I'm hilarious which helps them pay more attention.
I have been playing guitar for 15 years and have been taught everything my teacher knew. I was taught to only play chords, not tab, but I learned tab on my own. You name it, I can figure it out.
Honestly, learning new things should be fun. Every memorable teacher I had figured out a way to make us laugh, have fun and remember that moment. Those were the classes I excelled in. That's how I like to teach. Word hard, be dedicated, laugh and play and you'll enjoy learning things in life. Hi everyone! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an Illinois state certified Paraprofessional and work in an elementary school. I tutor and supervise children in all grades. I don't like to force a designated method of learning onto students, because everyone is different and it won't always register perfectly. Instead, I'm patient, go through multiple methods to instill an idea of figuring out their problem and watch the light bulb go off in their head. Common core learning standards are more about the "why?" in learning, and not completely just "what is it?"
I have been playing guitar, acoustic mostly, for nearly 15 years. I was taught everything my teacher knew at the time, all chords and up to 6-8 timed picking. I then continued to teach myself tab and any songs I wanted to learn.
