I was born in Chicago, IL and due to my parent's divorce, ended up being raised in southern Spain, in Fuengirola, (Malaga). Although I've known for a long time that my first language was English, I've never remembered when I "didn't" know Spanish. Culturally speaking, it's always been like I had a foot in both countries. My main contact with the States was English, especially when coming every other year to visit my father's parents in Chicago, IL.
I've always appreciated knowing a second language and enjoyed the idea of being able to help others who are trying to learn it. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
