I am an experienced physician from India with 35 years of experience. I love teaching as it provides me an opportunity to be with the younger generation. It helps me to learn recent advancements on the topics of interest and impart the knowledge to young scholars. I have excellent speaking ability and proficiency in the English language to express my thoughts on the subjects of study, clearly and correctly. I am also versatile in varying the level of teaching for the different age groups on the same subjects. I utilize audiovisual methods and instances from the internet and other available facilities. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Anatomy is the grammar of Medicine. Learning it is easy and instructive if one follows a systematic route. Construct each organ as a cube and its relations on all the six sides of it and anatomy is mastered. Frame easy example for each notation and you will remember almost everything. Always picture in your mind the example and you will not forget it ever.
Biology is the science of living beings, plants included. In fact since the inception of the earth after the "Big bang" theory, it cooled off and water was formed on its surface. This is the main source for all things living. The plants were blessed with chlorophyll a natural ingredient colored matter which with the help of sunlight could manufacture its own food to grow and reproduce. The animals were not in picture at that time. As evolution occurred, the plant cells started moving with flagella and cilia to procure other ready food available in water. This was the beginning of the animal kingdom.
The basic differences between the plants and animals was not only the locomotion aspect, but the absence of chlorophyll in animals so that they had to hunt their food instead of producing their own like plants! Also the outer covering of the cell body was thick in plants called cell wall, which was resistant to heat and loss of moisture. The animal cell body was ensheathed in a cell membrane which was semipermeable and could retain moisture by osmotic transportation and utilize electrolytes by diffusion and active transportation.
As the plants became more complex and branched off into various families, classes and subclasses, the animals also evolved into higher multicellular organisms, developed a backbone and came to be called as vertebrates. At some stage they started moving into land surface leaving the water and developed well functioning lungs to breathe. The reptiles could live in both land and water while the Avians learned to fly and took to skies. The large dinosaurs died for their weight could not be sustained and the human beings emerged from the branch of primidae to rule the world.
Biology also includes the study of Chemistry, called BIOCHEMISTRY one of the basic subjects in the study to become Physicians. Some also study Physics in addition to become Bio-medical engineers. So in every aspect of our life, study of biological sciences has gained a crucial point. The tutor must be versatile to teach these subjects!
The atom is the smallest splittable portion of all matter in its purest form in this universe. It is made of protons, neutrons and electrons. If we observe closely all matter whether living or non-living is made up of chemicals. The formation of earth after BIG BANG theory was due to the variety of combination of chemicals, in different proportions. This gave rise to water which is vital for all living matter. The study of these chemicals is CHEMISTRY.
There are three main branches of Chemistry, namely Physical, inorganic and organic. The last mentioned one extends into the medical field as Biochemistry. Some aspects of Chemistry are involved in present day happenings of our life in a routine manner even without our realizing it.
Some times atom cannot exist in nature by itself, in a stable manner. So they combine with another atom to form the stabler Molecule. All chemicals are divided into solids, liquids and gases. They are said to be existing in elemental form. Some of the chemicals combine with another to form compounds, which are far more common and stable. This reaction produces heat and energy, which is useful to us. The combining of chemicals is called bonding. There are many varieties of bonding, some are stable and some labile. It is useful in study of Biology.
Thus Chemistry is a part and parcel of Biological sciences to be studied with more concentration for true conception.
English is a language acclaimed as an internationally recognized and used one. It contains 26 letters, called ALPHABET of which A, E, I, O, U are the vowels needed essentially to make a word and the rest are consonants. A group of letters to denote a place, thing or time is called a word. A group of words is called a sentence. But the sentence is to contain a noun and a verb (in many forms) It can also contain adjectives and adverbs that qualify other words. Verb may denote the tense past, present or future. Noun is the name of a place or person. Speaking the language is fairly easier than writing it grammatically correct.
Physiology is the mode of working of the body parts in unison to maintain the balancing of the body called HOMEOSTASIS. It is the sum total of the body's anabolic and catabolic activities aimed at producing energy and the much needed core temperature of the body. In this effort each organ system strives best to assist other organs systems to maintain the metabolism to the optimum level. We need to study it in steps, much the same way as the many levels of organization are studied in Anatomy. Any faulty process in this protocol leads to disease and body's malfunctioning needs to be set right. It is mostly chemically mediated and requires in depth concentrated study for clear cut understanding of the subject. The tutor can simplify procedures according to the age group trying to assimilate it.
Reading is an art which is best learned in childhood. The process is to be carried through into adolescence and then into college level in steps. My teachers used to say do not just read the passage as it is, try and infuse the emotions and thoughts of person writing that passage or the character, who is supposed to be speaking it. On many an occasion one has to read between lines, to really understand what the author has set out to explain. Read the same a second time with intent and one will come to gain more insight into it. This makes the reading an enjoyable pastime.
Writing is the art learned after learning to read well. When you write something you are expressing your thoughts, so as to communicate with the reader. So a lot of your emotion should flow into that thought and make the reader feel it. Good writing does not involve using very high sounding words and complicate by writing endless compound sentences. Simple words of expression elicit better response from the reader. Breaking up long winding sentences into 2 or 3 smaller ones sends the message across more effectively.
It is a good practice to break up the subject, into smaller paragraphs, under different headings. Always have an introduction to the topic and a final epilogue. Ideally one should use the same tense in writing throughout. Also using direct speech sounds better than indirect speech. Avoid using double negatives and past participles where ever possible. Also usage of the punctuation marks appropriately is an essential part of good writing. When writing names, start with Capital letter. Mentioning references must be in quotations. Of course the art of hand writing is being forgotten nowadays, with the advent of type written manuscripts and computer generation.
Zoology is the study of animal life. All life in this planet earth started as a single cell self sufficient in its being. It could make its own food and reproduce. But somewhere along the line of evolution the plant like cell developed locomotion and started preying on ready food available which is the beginning of the bifurcation of animals and plants. They exhibited some basic differences and went on to evolve as multi-cellular creatures. They specialized into various organs and organ systems encompassed in single body, organism. They went on to be differentiated as worms and other higher invertebrates, which gradually developed a back bone called vertebral column and came to be called vertebrates.
These evolved further into more complex animals until the human being (Homo sapien) evolved from the branch primidae to rule the earth. There are many classes of organisms grouped under various phylum subclasses etc. Curiously we can observe there are many link organisms existing between the different groups but some are extinct. This subject is coupled with Botany, the study of plants and earth sciences in the lower classes.A higher level of Zoology is undertaken as a pure subject to advance into research fields of marine biology.
I am a science graduate with Zoology as my main subject in obtaining Bachelor degree. I studied the subject for 3 years from 1961 to 1964 and procured a B plus score. My related subjects were Chemistry, Human geography and human psychology. I am a qualified physician with 35 years of international experience & am presently teaching medical oriented subjects in private schools. I trust this authenticates my proficiency in the subject to be certified to teach it.
