Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Astronomy

I have taught 3 years of 7th grade astronomy.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified K-9 professional educator employed in a local school district as a middle school reading teacher. I have professional experience in middle school math, science, English, and reading. Knowing where your elementary-level child is intended to be before they get to middle school helps me provide them with the skills needed to be successful in elementary content areas.

English

I have taught middle school English courses for four years.

ESL/ESOL

I have a personal love of foreign language studies. My experience as a middle school English teacher provides a valuable background in understanding the structure and terminology of language.

Grammar

I am an experienced middle school English teacher with four years of teaching experience.

Proofreading

I am an experienced English teacher with a personal love of writing. I have a knack for identifying grammar errors.

Spanish

I offer basic language instruction including, but not limited to: greetings, numbers, directions, commonly used questions and answers, vocabulary, and conjugation of regular verbs (-ir, -er, -ar), all of which leads to pupils being able to understand and take part in basic conversation. I require the use of a notebook to record important concepts for review.

I mix up conversation, drills, games, music, and videos to allow language to be used and solidified in a variety of outlets.

I STRONGLY encourage students and parents to discover good resources they can use to continue to grow in their language development outside of tutoring.

Writing

My goal is to help you equip yourself with strategies and tools to transform your writing from "eh..." to "WOW!"

Excellent Tutor

Chris helped my student study his materials and build his confidence. He has familiarity with all subjects, which benefited my child greatly. He's got a great attitude and positive personality, which bode well for a positive learning environment. I can't say enough good things about Chris. If you use him for your child, you won't be disappointed!
