“**Really related well to our son! Great teacher**”

I provide one-on-one science (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, genetics, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and physics), math, statistics, and Microsoft Excel tutoring to junior high, high school, and college students. I enjoy applying my in depth science knowledge in helping my students learn and improve their test scores. I will tutor in

*Will tutor two students in the same subject for $75/hr.*

We couldn't be happier with Marty's approach and our son is already starting to feel better about his skills in Algebra. Today they focused on learning his new calculator

Last night my son handed me a copy of his interim grade in Physics. I was amazed to see that he had gone from a C at the end of the first quarter to an A+ (98.79). We both were very pleased with his progress and accomplishment; owed in large part to Marty for making Physics understandable. I highly recommend Marty if your student needs assistance in Physics.

Marty has been helping me review mass to mass equations and word problems. He helps go over work I did and corrects my mistakes by trying to help me understand the relation the math has to real laboratory experiences.

My son is already on chapter 5 of his Algebra 2 book! Marty is very knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend him for tutoring in Algebra 2!

Marty has been really good for my daughter. He not only teaches her how to do the math problems, but teaches her how to know she did them right. He has also given her much confidence in her work. Thanks Marty!

Marty has been great to work with. He's kept us in the loop with the various techniques he's using to help our son. We really appreciate his patience too.

Marty has been very helpful in my learning sessions each week. Have learned a great deal from Marty. Even though I am not able to be in person Marty finds the way to help me with my work. Marty comes very well prepared and you will learn a lot from your lessons. Marty is the best when tutor. He can help with a lot of different listens. Thank you Marty for your knowledgeable ways.

Marty is an awesome tutor! He is very patient and has so much insight into the courses for which my son has received tutoring. He has been able to connect us with additional resources (many online resources) that have been helpful for studying the subjects as well. I feel fortunate to have such a good teacher working with my son as he progresses through some very challenging math courses.

Seems very knowledgeable about the information I am dealing with.

GMAT, Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anyone can improve in solving algebra problems. Whether you are using the quadratic formula, least common multiples, or parabolas you can break down the problem into smaller parts which will lead to the solution.

Graphing the equations especially on a graphing calculator, app, or excel will help understand the behavior of the functions and finding the roots.

New websites now available will show you how to solve example problems step by step and simultaneously provide feedback for hundreds of course books.

I will show you how to reduce your problem solving time, check your answers, and improve your grades.

For Algebra 2 having the right calculator and knowing how to use it are important to improving test completion and grades. Do you now how to do synthetic division? What are foci, directrixes, and axes of symmetry? Do you know how to check your answers by graphing? All these questions I will help with and many more and provide you with web sites that will guide you step by step to solving your problems.

The main emphases of calculus are two new functions beyond +, -, X, / the derivative (the slope of a line or curve) and the integral (the area under a curve). Both of these functions are easier to calculate than long division.

Whether it is U-substitution, the chain rule, or inflection points, I will show you how to work the problems and check your answers.

Learning to use your calculator can help you master calculus just like you have mastered your cell phone.

Chemistry has been a passion of mine since I was ten years old. Chemistry has its own language which few people understand, for example (stoichiometry?, electron affinity?, polyatomic ions?).

Many people now do not get enough feedback on their assignments to really learn the subject or improve their grades. By providing the student with a practice test/answers areas for improvement can be immediately identified.

Building confidence in chemistry comes from knowing how to solve the problems and recognizing an easy problem.

How can you prepare for this test? Usually math problems need work in my GED tutoring experience.

What steps do you need to take to learn how to solve the problems?

Organic Chemistry

For my academic preparation, I have taken organic chemistry at Iowa State University and advanced organic chemistry at University of Colorado. For three years at Iowa State University I did undergraduate organic chemistry research on flash vacuum pyrolysis. For my Ph. D. research I synthesized part of the antibiotic monensin. I also taught organic chemistry labs.

In my industrial experience I researched and synthesized novel agrochemicals and also isolated and determined the structures of microbial natural products. Then I worked in research and development (R&D) and production of food, drug, and cosmetic colors especially from natural sources. Subsequently I applied organic chemistry in manufacturing and R&D related to biotechnology, isolation of proteins, cross-linking, biotins, and chemiluminescence. Currently I work in water technologies R&D including organic ion exchange resins and processes to reduce organic impurities in water.

I also have tutored local students in organic chemistry classes. In my tutoring I try to emphasize 3-D molecular modeling on a computer to make it easier for the student to visualize the structures as well as the practical importance of each specific example (i.e. aspirin smelling of acetic acid (vinegar smell) indicates the pill is probably old beyond its shelf life).

Statistics shows us how to analyze data. Is the data signficant? Is it above average? How do we know?

Statistics has its own language. What is the mean, mode, variance, factorial, or normal distribution?

Do you know how to use your graphing calculator for statistics?

There are many websites which can help you step by step with the computations.

How about Excel statistics?
