Hello there, I’m Hayley! I graduated cum laude from North Central College with a BA in Choral Music Education and an endorsement in Special Education (Learning Behavioral Specialist I). I am in the middle of my second year of teaching Elementary General Music where I work with a uniquely diverse group of students everyday. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have so many teachers who were passionate about student learning and always went the extra mile to help students succeed. Those wonderful teachers have certainly instilled those qualities within myself as an educator, and I strive, in whole group and 1-on-1 settings, to reach each individual and help them succeed. I try to create lesson plans and tutoring plans that meet the individual needs of each student and find ways to make each lesson relevant to a student’s life.

I have one year of tutoring experience in which I worked one on one with an individual student who needed additional help outside of class to achieve in math class. I also teach private voice lessons to an individual student in fourth grade.

Ultimately my goal is to help all students succeed so I will use my knowledge of resources but would welcome any suggestions from parents or students to best help the learning process. I am easy to reach and promise to do my best to respond quickly. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session.

I have a degree in Music Education from North Central College where I also studied voice privately. Right out of college, I was hired as an Elementary Music teacher where I teach a diverse population of students grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. Additionally, I am an active member in the Naperville Chorus and currently teach a weekly voice lesson to a fourth grade student.

I look forward to taking on students and helping them reach their full potential inside and outside of the classroom. Music History

During my time at North Central College, while obtaining my BA, I had to take two different year long courses about music history. The first course focused on a general overview of major works throughout history. The second course that I took was an in depth look at music history overtime beginning with the medieval period.

Sight Singing

I have been singing in choral settings since the fourth grade. Each of my choral directors, elementary through college, uses the Kodaly practice of solfege. I will use this practice with my own students.
