About Kristine

My style will be flexible to suit the needs of each individual student. The love I have for reading and writing will be shared with the lucky students I work with. We can delve into the written word or explore language arts. It can be fun and I do all that I can to show my students that.

I have worked with every grade level through high school, including special education in middle school. Currently, I teach at a private alternative high school, focusing on English, Language Arts, Literature, Grammar, U.S. History, Art, Music, and Environmental Science.

My experiences range from having my own 5th and 6th grade classrooms, long-term subbing middle school students with special needs, substituting in the Rockford Public Schools (K-8), and now with high school students. I have learned to be patient and take the time to realize the learning needs of each of my students. It is my belief that all students have potential to do well, but sometimes they lack the confidence to try. That is where I come in. I am part teacher and part cheerleader.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have spent several years subbing and teaching in grades K-8, so I am very familiar with the needs of these students. I know that ISATs are important at this stage, and have helped to prepare students in a variety of grades for these tests. In addition, I am licensed to teach K-8. Currently, I teach at a private alternative high school, focusing on English, Language Arts, Literature, Grammar, U.S. History, Art, Music, and Environmental Science.
