My name is Wendy. I have a secondary school (middle and high) teaching certificate in math, and an endorsement in psychology, and experience with most other subjects. I have been teaching for most of the past 20 years, usually in math, but often helping with many other subjects. I have developed a number of little tricks to help with remembering many steps and different methods. I try to make learning fun and develop a comfort with it. I don't want math to be boring or tricky, so I try to meet those issues. As a tutor, I promise to be punctual, reliable, and fair. I will do my best to help you to achieve your academic goals.

We needed a tutor to help with my daughter's Algebra 2 tests and didn't have much time! She needed to pass these tests in order to graduate! Wendy had a very flexible schedule and met with my daughter 3 times, twice in one day!! Without her help my daughter would not be graduating high school! She has always struggled with math and Wendy helped her gain confidence and learn some new tricks and ways to do the math correctly! My daughter said she really understood Wendy's teachings and she helped her a great deal in just the short time she worked with her. Thank you Wendy, I am so excited to see her walk the stage and graduate now!!!
Our daughter was struggling with Geometry and she fell behind a bit so when we realized we can't really help her, we decided to get her a tutor. Wendy has been coming once a week for a few weeks now and she has really helped our daughter understand the material. Sometimes it just takes a little extra help and we are so blessed to have Wendy to explain a little further. Our daughter has been doing much better on her daily assignments and tests and we can't thank Wendy enough for all of her help! Our family couldn't be happier with our decision to hire her!
I contacted Wendy to tutor my son in Algebra 2. He was failing the class and at serious risk of not graduating if he didn't receive a good grade on his final exam. With just a week before the test, I contacted Wendy to help him prepare. She was incredibly flexible and worked with him almost every day -- one day twice! She was patient and really encouraging with my son and, best of all, he graduated! I can't express how grateful I am for Wendy's help. Without her, I know my son wouldn't have been able to do so well on the test. Thank you Wendy!!!
I met Wendy on two separate occasions for 90 minutes each. I was in dire need of refreshing my algebra skills for an upcoming test for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). It has been nearly 20 years since I had any algebra courses and upon receiving sample questions I realized I needed help. Wendy is an OUTSTANDING tutor!. I couldn't be more pleased with the confidence I have gained since she began her lessons. Wendy was able to determine at what level I was and where we needed to start. We worked together on order of operations, distributive properties, negatives, equations and more. I am no longer fearful of the upcoming test and find that I am even excited to test my rediscovered skills. I have no reservations regarding Wendy and her abilities as an accomplished teacher and tutor. I feel very comfortable recommending Wendy for anyone who needs help with algebra.
Thank you Wendy!
Thanks, Aaron. You are a strong and dedicated student, yourself. Good luck.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught geometry for much of the last 15 years, and doing so successfully. I have found that approaching geometry like another math or algebra class does not help with understanding. Instead, it takes a retraining in the brain, and I see my job as facilitating that training.
