I am highly experienced in my fields of study, but more importantly, I am understanding. I always encourage my students to be proactive with their schoolwork, but unexpected events happen! I am willing to help even if it's last minute. Never hesitate to reach out, even if the exam is tomorrow or the paper deadline is tonight. I am a compassionate teacher and a huge mental health advocate. Your education is important, but never at the expense of your mental health.
I excelled in my undergraduate Logic course and tutored the subject for 2 years at my college. I participated in Ethics Bowl and attended several Philosophy conferences.
I was selected for two REUs (Research Experience for Undergraduates) in which I lead independent research projects under the guidance of Ph.D. mentors. In the summer of 2018, I examined the impact of insect sampling methods on native bee capture at the University of Kansas. The following summer I studied the consumption rates between invertebrate and vertebrate scavengers at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies. I have outstanding science communication skills as I was awarded first place at the Emerging Researchers National Conference in Washington D.C. for my talk in the Ecology, Environmental and Earth Sciences category. Furthermore, I have served as a TA and tutor for several undergraduate science courses including Biology, Field Botany, and Plant Biology.
I hold my students to high expectations but am overall easy-going. As long as we both put in the work, this semester will be a success! I have a very open schedule so feel free to request practically any time for a meeting between 8 AM and 2 AM central time.
