About Elease

Elease has over 10 years of experience in education. As a member of The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), she strives to provide the support children need to close the achievement gap in Mathematics, and to prepare students for college and careers. Elease began her career as a 5th grade teacher in a self-contained classroom. With great success as a novice teacher, she then taught 6th grade Mathematics for several more years. Currently, Elease teachers 5th grade Mathematics and Science as well as Algebra to qualified 7th and 8th grade students. Problem Based Learning, cooperative learning, student agency, and a love of learning are at the forefront of best practices demonstrated in her classroom environment. Elease’s goal for her students is to develop critical thinkers who can transfer classroom learning into life skills. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she is the Math coach for K-8th grade teachers, the Data Strategist for 4th-8th grade Math Teachers, and a member of the Instructional Leadership Team. Elease is presently employed at Fiske Elementary School on the south side of Chicago, IL in the Woodlawn community.
