Hello, thank you for taking a moment to learn about me! Currently, I work full time as a special education resource teacher at an elementary school (grades 2-5). I have six years of special education middle school experience having worked in many classrooms helping students of all ability levels in math, science, reading, and study skills. Three years ago, I decided to pursue my master's degree in education. My student teaching was at the elementary level in a resource classroom and then a self-contained classroom working with students with various learning challenges. I have recently graduated with my Master of Science Education degree with an emphasis in Special Education (LBS1) and endorsements in Language Arts and general Science. My undergraduate degree is in Communicative Disorders (Speech Pathology/Audiology) which I received from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. I am also a mother of three. My oldest is 26 years old and recently completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am in the process of obtaining a masters degree in education with Special education emphasis K-12. Currently, I have 29 credit hours toward my degree. I have over 5 years of paraprofessional experience in a middle school setting and have co-taught mathematics to students in grades 6-8.
