Excellent English writing tutor
My 14 year old daughter (a 9th grader) began her English writing tutoring with Catherine since early October. She really enjoys learning from her and has mentioned that she feels much more confident in her writing. Catherine is very knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant to work with. She provides feedbacks and guidance to help improve my daughter’s personal essays. I like the fact that after each session, Catherine provides a quick summary review so I can read the things that were introduced and reviewed. Below are some examples of the summaries from each of the tutoring sessions: "I helped Thi understand the three rhetorical appeals and reviewed her draft of an argumentative essay with an opposing view. We also discussed citing sources both directly and indirectly." "I helped Thi eliminate awkward phrasing in her essay and to make her introduction better reflect the ideas she presents in the body of her essay. I also encouraged her to qualify some of her claims so that they would seem more reasonable to the reader." "I helped Thi to edit her draft and cautioned her to avoid overusing the thesaurus to make sure her language and vocabulary was consistent in terms of its accessibility and level of difficulty. We also planned her next assignment, which will be a creative piece." I find that the key and primary benefit of one-on-one tutoring is that the lessons are customized to my daughter's level. The tutoring rate is very reasonable for the values Catherine provides. I highly recommend Catherine to anyone who's looking for a private tutor/mentor in English writing. I will continue to have my daughter work with Catherine to help build strong and well-developed writing skills for her.

frustrating to work with
Wrote 2 sentences on my google doc then charged me $10 for it. She kept on saying that she made other edits on the google doc but i saw absolutely no edits except the 2 sentences that she wrote a WEEK ago. Very frustrating to deal with. After I was charged, I asked her if I could see those 'edits' she made, she basically just told me to move on and didn't send me any edits.
