Reading

I have a Masters in Literacy, and this subject has been one of my favorite parts of teaching. I am an avid reader, and I bring this energy to my work with students. My favorite part of the teaching day has been guided reading instruction, in which I introduce a book, assess a student's strengths and needs, and focus on a particular skill with that student.

I got straight A's except for 2 B's in high school (both 91%) and I had a GPA over 3.91 for my B.A. and a 4.0 in my Master's Degree. I am accustomed to teaching my students how to work backwards from the target, reading the questions, eliminating wrong answer choices, and looking for clues and evidence to find the correct answer.

Teresa is awesome!!

Teresa is very patient - she has connected with my daughter and I have seen slow but steady improvements on all of her reading skills. My daughter's teacher has even remarked on the progress she is making. Teresa comes prepared and give us advice on how to help our daughter.

Susie, 27 lessons with Teresa

Knowledgeable, pleasant and patient tutor.

This was our first meeting with Teresa. I thought Teresa is very knowledgeable in the subject matter that we are seeking. Megan told me she likes her teaching style and she is more than happy to continue the tutoring sessions with Teresa in the future. Personally, I thought Teresa is very sweet and patient with Megan. I have confidence that Teresa can help Megan improve her reading and writing skills in English. -Alan, Megan's Father
