I have a Bachelor's of Science in Earth Science with a minor in Chemistry. Currently, I am completing my thesis on the biogeochemical cycling of metals and nutrients in coal mine waste to get my Master's Degree in Geology. I was a research assistant in an environmental aqueous geochemistry laboratory for 2.5 years. I mentored, trained, and taught undergraduate student researchers in chemistry, math, and geoscience. I understand that each student has different learning styles, backgrounds, skills, motivations, and goals. In the first tutoring lesson, I assess the student’s basic knowledge and key concepts of the subject matter. To be able to learn math and science, you must practice the concepts. Therefore, practice problems are the main component of my tutoring.

I have been tutoring my peers, friends, and family in math for over 25 years. I love helping people become math literate. I evaluate each student's basic math skills to figure out where to start the learning process.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have been successfully tutoring students in algebra for over 20 years. I can help you to improve your grade, study for an exam, or simply help you with your homework.
Calculus,

Calculus

Math has always been my favorite subject to learn and I actually took Calculus II and III for the fun of it in college. I tutored many students during my undergraduate studies, and held group study sessions for quizzes and exams. Many students I have tutored needed help refreshing their basic math and Algebra skills that are needed to solve complex calculus problems. I have helped many math students improve their grades, confidence, and comprehension.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I have completed over 50 hours of coursework in chemistry. I was a research assistant in an aqueous geochemistry lab for 2.5 years. I can teach you how to calculate molarity/activity, balance chemical reactions, or standard curves to build linear models to make predictions. I can help you learn the basics (i.e., unit conversions, balancing chemical formulas, stoichiometry, ice tables) to more complex concepts (i.e., enthalpy, entropy, Gibb's free energy, phase diagrams).
Geometry,

Geometry

I have taught the entire first semester of geometry and I am teaching the second semester of high school geometry now. I especially enjoy helping students learn problem solving skills.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Math has always been my favorite subject to learn and teach. I have been tutoring students in math for over 25 years. Many students think they are just bad at math, but I know that everyone can become a great math student! Most students had one bad math teacher that destroyed their confidence and it continues to hold them back in their math comprehension for years down the road. I am great at building up my students confidence. I am a very patient and encouraging teacher and love helping others understand concepts they once thought were impossible.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

I can help you prepare for the Math section of the ACT. Every student can get the math scores they need on the ACT if they are well prepared to take the exam and the best way to learn mathematics is by doing problem sets. Typically, I will work a problem out with the student (step-by-step) and then have the student work out similar problems until the student has mastered the skill. It is also very important that the student takes a few practice exams before the actual exam to get familiar with the format of the test.

great teacher!

She does a great job explaining the topics! Really detailed with explaining what to for what and takes her time with what to do

Rafael, 2 lessons with Brianne

Very Thorough and

Brianne is helping me with a College level, Natural Science class called Weather and Atmosphere. This class is difficult since it’s online with lectures that are quick with little ability to ask detail questions. Brianne is great with explanations and working through difficult questions. I am feeling more confident with her assistance.

High School Chemistry

My daughter needed some help with her chemistry homework after just starting at a new school a few day ago. I asked Brianne for her help and she responded so quickly. She was great and my daughter enjoyed working with her. Brianne was able help my daughter understand the work better. Thank you for time and help. I will continue to request her for any help my daughter may need.

good first lesson

Nora can be a handful when trying to get her to learn. But she was quite and attentive throughout her first hour. Thanks for your patience and hopefully this will make a difference.

Andrew, 1 lesson with Brianne

Super helpful and skilled

Brianne helped my son with his earth science unit and really gave him a better understanding of tricky formulas and distinctions between complex terminology. We will continue to call upon her and are very happy with the way she looked at his notes and created a tutoring session around them.

Understands My Needs and Is Developing A Plan Just for Me

This was our first session. I felt like Brianne understood my needs and is designing a plan to help me succeed by passing my class. I felt very comfortable with her and look forward to her guidance.
