Hello, my name is Frank. One of the main reasons that I like to teach is the challenge of finding the correct language to communicate a concept to a student. I understand that the sciences can be hard to grasp, but I have confidence in my ability to clearly convey tricky concepts.

I studied Chemistry at both Stanford and the University of Chicago, but I have a strong background in a number of other fields as well, especially Physics, Biochemistry and Biology. At Stanford, I taught organic chemistry for a year. There, I taught lab sessions, but I also had several weekly tutoring sessions, which lasted an hour in length. In addition, I helped design homework and test questions. Before Stanford, I worked for four months at the Friendship House in Peoria, where I helped children ages 6-10 in an after-school homework session.

I have a very strong background in the physical and biological sciences. Not only did I study these fields in school, but I also did five years of research in chemistry at Stanford and the University of Chicago. There, I was challenged to come up with interesting experiments, which meant that I had to have a deep understanding of the subject. Most of my work was interdisciplinary, meaning that it was not pure chemistry; biology, biochemistry and physics played a large part in the types of phenomena we were investigating.

I would be excited to help you learn science. I am a very open and friendly person, and I understand that science is hard. I believe that patience is the best virtue a person can have both as a teacher and a student. I'm positive that if we both work hard during the lesson, you will see great results in your studies.
