I taught in the public schools for fifteen years. I worked in elementary, middle, and high schools. I am Licensed in IL, a PEL, and Georgia to teach. I am licensed in the following as well as some other areas: History, Geography, and Social Science. I have a M.Ed. in Special Education and a BA in History and also Anthropology. I taught in the public schools for fifteen years. I worked in elementary, middle, and high schools. I am Licensed in IL, a PEL, and Georgia to teach. I am licensed in the following as well as some other areas: History, Geography, and Social Science. I have a M.Ed. in Special Education and a BA in History and also Anthropology. While teaching I worked with students from many backgrounds and have taught proficiency in the English Language, basic Mathematics, writing, and various academic subjects as well as study and organizational skills which included time management and how to relax and not become overwhelmed. I always stove to discover a student's methods of learning and designed lessons to meet those styles.

I believe students learn more effectively when they are participating in the lesson. When students can have questions answered to their satisfaction a lesson may move more slowly, however, mastery of the subject matter increases. This removes or lessens the need to reteach and allows future lessons to incorporate previously taught material so learning is like moving from one platform to another.

I have an above average knowledge of American History and can help students understand and remember it better by making everyday life for people during a time period become real. Also some basic themes of society are always considered regardless of the time period such as geography, transportation, diet, technology, beliefs of people involved, and politics.

I have taught basic mathematics and prealgebra in elementary and middle school in a large classroom setting and a small group, resource room, setting. I have taught using touch math for arithmetic and also used song to help students learn to count by various numbers such as 2,3, 4, etc. which then can used to teach multiplication tables effectively. I have used other strategies and manipulative as well.
