About Natalie

I have a tenacious passion and enthusiasm for teaching topics in biology and specifically Anatomy and Physiology. I have found myself in a cadaver lab ever since I stepped foot in my first anatomy course. I began teacher assisting a cadaver-based anatomy laboratory in 2006 and have continued until 2009, when I was offered a lecturer position at Oakland University. Throughout my teaching experience, I learned much about dissecting cadavers. I utilized that privilege, not only as a learning tool for anatomy, but also as an opportunity to teach students about compassionate care and respect for all patients. I also had the opportunity to instruct fellow teaching assistants while serving as a dissection leader from 2007-2010, from which I gained a great deal of comprehension of the human body.

Although I enjoyed teaching in a suburban setting at Oakland University, I also appreciated teaching dynamic students in an urban setting at University of Detroit – Mercy as a teaching assistant to physician assistant and nurse anesthesia students. While teaching, I also was able to co-author two anatomy textbooks, “Human Anatomy: A Workbook Approach” and “Foundations of Human Anatomy”. These publications allowed me to share my interactive modern view on teaching anatomy and engage students in the educational material. Currently, as adjunct faculty at Robert Morris University, I have continued to teach anatomy and physiology courses as well as microbiology and medical terminology and have used many modalities to teach the numerous diverse students in assorted programs. The level of empathy I possess allows me to connect to my students and decipher what learning method is most beneficial. My experiences have taught me that every student learns differently and difficult material can be taught in many distinct modalities to allow complete understanding of a topic. I am an enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable teacher that would love to fill the minds of college students with everything from the components of a cell to the intricacies of the nervous system to allow students to achieve their aspirations within the medical and health science field.

Currently, I am teaching part time and have flexible availability so please contact me if you would like tutoring in A&P and/or biology!
