Hello!

My name is Ben and I just graduated from Iowa State University with my degree Aerospace Engineering. I am staying in Oswego this fall searching for full-time employment in the Chicago Area. I have been tutoring on and off for 7 years, with my most tutored subjects being Calculus I, Physics I, and high school or college Algebra. My other experience includes tutoring Geometry, Trigonometry and Precalculus. I love connecting with students and helping them become proficient with subjects they are having trouble with!

As a recent engineering student, I have a thorough knowledge of what is required of early college math and physics courses, what concepts are important to understand, and how to apply them. The knowledge gained in these courses was used repeatedly in all of my upper-level engineering classes.

If you are looking for a regular tutor, or just a few sessions to study for a test, please reach out! I look forward to helping you succeed!

Subjects

Computer

Fortran,

Fortran

My major (Aerospace Engineering) requires a large amount of programming. We were introduced to FORTRAN freshman year as it is a very efficient language and still used on operational legacy satellites and sparsely in modern industry. This past semester I took a class that was focused on Aerospace applications of numerical methods using FORTRAN, and wrote multiple complex programs such as a Truss-force solver, differential equation solver, Prandtl-Meyer Lifting Line calculator, and others. I earned an A in this class and have a strong grasp on not only programming logic but the syntax and debugging of FORTRAN programs.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I have been using MATLAB for simple calculations all the way up to complex programs for the past 4 years during school. In my major (Aerospace Engineering), we use it for almost every class to some degree, as it is very robust. I have written several complex codes over the past few years including a plane frame force solver, translunar trajectory analyzer, rocket stage optimizer and more. I also use MATLAB extensively in my lab courses to process and analyze data. MATLAB is a great and forgiving language to learn the basics of programming in, as well as to carry out complex computational problems and data analysis; and I am well versed in all of those categories.
