After earning my undergraduate degree in mathematics, I earned a master's degree in library and information science. I have worked in a middle school in Aurora, IL for seven years, at elementary schools in Streator, IL, and in the community college in Oglesby, IL. I now work in a public library.
I took every chance I could get to help with math in the schools where I've worked, so I have had the chance to tutor students from middle school through college, as well as adult learners. I'm delighted when I can help my students understand.
I love teaching math from Prealgebra and Algebra to Geometry and Precalculus. I'll help you see why your textbook or teacher is telling you to take certain steps to work through a problem. I'll help you remember the steps to take, and prompt you in sample problems. I do my best to give creative examples explaining math problems, relating them to the concrete world.
I help students prepare for standardized tests from the ACT to the GRE. I teach students how to write well and help them proofread and cite English papers. I have taught computer skills to beginners, from basic introductions to general computers to how to use Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel.
I look forward to the chance to help you! After earning my undergraduate degree in mathematics, I earned a master's degree in library and information science. Rebekah was able to successfully help my child increase their ACT score dramatically in Science, Reading and English. She identified my child's weaknesses and honed in on what would be most beneficial to see immediate results. I believe Rebekah's best attribute is her ability to break things down into smaller parts which lends itself to a fuller understanding in tougher areas. My child liked how she simplified things, making some subject areas much easier to comprehend. Also, Rebekah did an awesome job of conveying test taking strategies! Strategies that will last a lifetime. Lastly, she was always on time, on task, flexible, sincere, and honest. She was constantly, providing feedback to both myself and child. She gave my child the confidence and skills to successfully take their ACT. She is awesome!!
I needed to improve my math score on the ACT in order to continue in my masters program. Rebekah was very helpful. I only saw her twice, and improved my score even more than I needed to. She is very patient, thorough, and easy to understand. SO thankful for her!!
Rebekah is very positive and patient. She makes herself comfortable with her and her surroundings. My daughter was very proud of herself that she received a "B" on her Algebra test. This is huge. And it is because of the help and guidance of her tutor. We are blessed to have her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
