My daughter first started working with Nathan in the spring of her junior year in high school. I originally hired him to help with ACT prep. Between the April and June tests, her English scores improved by 5 points! In addition, Nathan helped her with writing and essays. Most recently, now that she is in her senior year, Nathan has worked with my daughter on her college application essays. Nathan is extremely patient, thoughtful and very helpful. He has provided my daughter with excellent guidance and tutoring in writing, reading and English, and a little history as well. She thinks he's great and I highly recommend him!
Nathan was a great tutor for our son who needed additional help preparing for the ACT and SAT. He was very hands-on and helped make the lessons interesting but thorough. Our son's combined Reading/Writing PSAT score increased 36 points with Nathan's assistance.
In the 6 months Nathan tutored my daughter, her ACT score went up 6 points! We couldn't have been more pleased and would highly recommend him for ACT English prep.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught developmental English at Morton College and have tutored students through the UIC Center for Literacy as they prepare to take various standardized tests.
