About Haley

I am a Quality Engineering & Assurance Test Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions with a focus in life sciences/pharmaceutical clients. I have a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. I attended ASU's Barrett, the Honors College for four years and was a teaching assistant for Engineering Projects in Community Service at the collegiate and high school level. I truly support women in STEM and understand that coursework may not always come easily. I was never afraid to ask for help or tutoring in the pursuit of my degree and stand by the belief that all questions are worth asking.

I have been teaching and mentoring students since I was ten years old. I began as a dance instructor and switched to teaching or mentoring math or engineering classes in a middle, high school, or college setting in 2011. At 17, I taught arithmetic to sixth and seventh grade students for Educational Justice and truly learned how to adjust to every student and to his/her needs. I have mentored 20+ teams of students and truly believe that it is the student that knows best when it comes to their learning style and needs. I got a perfect score on the English Section of the ACT and can help you break the test down systematically.
If a student is up for a challenge or just needs someone who can relate the material and make it click, I'll be there for them.

I am willing to work where is most convenient for you! I'd love to meet at a coffee house, library, or wherever works best for you! I have a business center and conference room in my apartment building that is available and helps prevent against distractions or outside noise. Just shoot me an email and we will design a schedule and figure out the essential materials that fit you. I can't wait to get started!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ballet

I was a trained ballerina for 15 years. I danced for University Louisville's Ballet Company as early as 14 years old. Over the years, I had about 15 different awarded scholarships across the country from different companies and conventions. Many of the girls that I used to teach or work with are now very successful professionally. I only chose engineering after an injury prevented me from continuing on.

Biostatistics

I received an A in biostatistics at Arizona State University and use them in my research every day. I had to take the course twice due to a health issue during finals week the first time so I have repeated the material enough to truly grasp the purpose of it.

Public Speaking

I have received the A.D. Litchfield Outstanding Speaker award twice. I am Arizona State University's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Pitch Perfect reward recipient. I have represented Kentucky 3 times to the Conference on National Affairs for speaking skills with 19 others out of 6,000 candidates. I was the youngest member to date of the National Collegiate Youth in Government Conference to be elected to a cabinet position due to speaking skills. I was also selected to be one of less than 20 students in the engineering school at Arizona State to become a Ventures Scholar due to speaking skills.

Study Skills

As a biomedical engineer participating in 12 outside curricular activities, I have had to excel at study skills. I work with 30 freshmen as part of my position in their fraternity to gain the skills that they need to be successful in their collegiate careers. Furthermore, I spent much of my time with educational justice teaching middle school students that were struggling the necessary skills to further their scholastic abilities.
