Thank you for your interest. I have been a teacher and a coach for more than 35 years. I would like to share some of my experience and my credentials so you have a better idea of what you would get if you hire me as your tutor. I have a standard type 3 certification and 6 endorsements. My experience as a teacher, coach and tutor came very early in my life. I began coaching my own teammates right after graduating from high school. This incident threw light to my abilities as a teacher. From their comments I started realizing that I was good at teaching people. when I began working with my bilingual students, my tutoring was my best weapon to make my student success evident to the school, parents, and the students themselves. By using a very personal method of identifying, analyzing, and connecting approach with all my students, and by guiding them though the different skills in the curriculum, they were able to see evidence of a stronger core and an improved self-esteem. I like the process of making things meaningful for my students. I see myself in each one of my students and I honor those teacher that believed in me when I didn't believed in myself. I realized that my students needed special attention and different approaches than the general trend.
I was nominated for teacher of the year in 2001, and I have taught from kindergarten to college. I have endorsements in Spanish, ESL, math, science, gifted education, and a minor in fine arts. I recognized very early in my life as a teacher that no student is equal to other. By this I insinuate that we all have different strengths and weaknesses, and that we all require different approaches and methodology to create meaning. If you like my philosophy of tutoring, you will not be disappointed, because I believe that every child, as a human being has his own way of creating meaning and to see his or her surroundings. If you are in need of more information about me, feel free to check my credentials as a teacher, volleyball, tennis coach or artist. Thank you for your interest. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
