I have always loved learning, and my education continues to be a major part of life. Although school has always come fairly easy to me, I have always made an extra effort to help my peers whenever possible. I love tutoring peers when able to, and want to help more students. This has led me to often using boards in the classroom during work days to demonstrate and explain my work to others. One of the best thing I have ever seen is when a student has it click, and they just get it. I just love any success in the classroom, and knowing I have been a part of that for someone else is just amazing. I want to start tutoring more because of these experiences with my peers.
I have always done well in my classes, maintaining a gpa above 5 throughout my high school career. Math is the subject I have offered the most help to my peers in before, and believe myself most qualified for, but I also took the ACT twice and received scores in the top percent compositely both times. In addition to this, I have been involved in teaching programs such as Boy Scouts for years, and can effectively and easily teach younger children and peers alike.
My favorite way to teach is by finding an approach that works for the student. There are very few times in which a single process alone will yield the correct answer, yet some processes are easier for certain students. I believe that by finding a way to break into the material like this a lot more can be opened up about a subject to be learned.
Please get in touch if I am able to help in any way! I am pretty flexible and would love to help your student succeed! If a lesson is scheduled for 2 hours or more, the hourly rate will be $25.
Alex was great to work. He helped to me to understand concepts that I have been struggling with most of the semester and he made them much clearer for me in two hours. I will be seeing him again soon and highly recommend him to any students needing math help. He is helping me with Honors Algebra 2.
Alex works with my 4th grade daughter on basic math. Alex breaks concepts down into smaller pieces and explains things in different ways in an effort to make my daughter understand.
After their math lessons, my daughter comes away feeling more confident.
Thanks for all you do, Alex!
Alex was helpful in helping me with some tips to start the semester off right. Lesson only lasted 45 minutes though. He mainly tutors in science and math though and currently I don't need help with those subjects. Will call him again though if the need arises.
Lessons went very well, Alex did a great job, very patient and explained the material perfect. Looking forward to the next lesson next week.
Alex was very patient and understanding when teaching. He was knowledgeable and able to explain in depth what the problems were showing. He was a personable person and showed up a little before the set time, which was great. Overall a great experience.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over two and a half years of experience tutoring Algebra 2, and have helped dozens of students with the subject in addition to many others.
