I love teaching English as a Second Language!

If you would like to improve your ability to speak, read, understand, and write in English, I can definitely help.

I have been helping students of all ages and ability levels improve their English skills for about 8 years. I received a Master's degree in Education with a TESOL certificate in 2011 and have taught at a local community college since 2010. I have been knitting and crocheting for over 40 years. I learned the basics from my grandmother at age 8 and have since studied different techniques. I have made and given blankets, baby clothing, and sweaters to friends and relatives for many years. I have also sold a number of winter hat and scarf sets online. I am a patient teacher and would love to share the ability to create beautiful and practical items with anyone who wants to learn.

I received a Master's of Education with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language from Ashford University in August 2011 and graduated with a 4.0 out of 4.0 GPA. I began as a volunteer tutor with the STAR Literacy program in Lansing Michigan about 15 years ago and since then I have worked teaching ESL students of all ages. I taught Adult ESL at a community college in Illinois for four years as well as tutoring students through Wyzant. I specialize in grammar, pronunciation, and writing and my students tell me that I am extremely patient and easy to work with. I love teaching and will adjust the lessons as we go along in order to make sure that I am meeting my students' needs.

Great tutor

She is generous in terms of understanding students who is lacking of speaking English. She has a lot of common basic knowledges about American culture that helped me a lot to understand it. Every time i asked some questions that even random or side track questions, she explained and solved my all the curiosity. She is a great example teacher that i have been looking for many years.

Fantastic

Robin has done an amazing job preparing my wife for her TOEFL. She is an experienced tutor who did a great job of assessing my wife's strengths and weaknesses, and putting a plan into action to improve her reading comprehension and essay writing. Highly recommended!

Excellent Tutor!

Robin has been tutoring my 1st grade son for several months now with reading and math. We have seen such significant improvement in his grades! We couldn't be happier with their progress, and my son says "I even like math now". I appreciate that she took her time to evaluate where my son was in his learning process and how to best bring him up to grade level (or beyond). She comes prepared with appropriate material to every lesson and is always positive, kind and patient! Anyone looking for a positive tutoring experience should definitely contact Robin!

Great tutor

Robin has been tutoring my son in English for the past 6 months. She has a very good knowledge about the subject and evaluates student correctly on improvement areas and then focus on working those areas. Robin is also very good at identifying student interest areas and then find books that best fit for reading. Robin is great teacher and I would strongly recommend her for any one looking for teaching needs. Thanks.
