My names Diana. I graduated from Olney Central College with an associate's in arts and science and I'm currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix-online for my bachelor's degree in elementary education.
I'm currently employed as a cashier and at Olney Central College as a tutor/teacher. I've been tutoring for Olney Central College since 2008 mainly in the subject of math, anything up to calculus and trigonometry. I have struggled through math classes all my life until I enrolled in college classes in 2007 in a beginning algebra class. Since this class, where I learned how to do the math that I had been working on since in grade school, I have been working with all ranges of students and most math. I have become so fond of working with math that I have started back to school to get my teaching degree. The bigger part of the students that I work with at the college are college-age students, others are students how are working on their GED's. I also work with grade school and high school age students. I tutor for the after school, TRiO program, at the Albion High School.
I like to be able to spend my knowledge of math with students who do not understand it and my hope is to help them better themselves in the subject also. Math is something that a person uses in everyday life and needs to know how to use it. My style of tutoring depends on the student I'm working with at the time. Some students work better hands on while others work better after seeing a problem worked and explained in simpler terms than that explained in a class room. My names Diana. I graduated from Olney Central College with an associate's in arts and science and I'm currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix-online for my bachelor's degree in elementary education.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
