Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I am highly qualified to be an ESL teacher due to my experience with teaching Spanish and French to English speakers. Also, I have experience teaching English to non-native speakers. My primary language is English.

Reading

I am highly qualified to teach reading at any level. My academic training has made me a specialist in the parts of speech in English, Spanish and French. I have a solid knowledge of math, including algebra 1 and 2. I make the learning experience enjoyable and interesting.

Spanish

I am able to teach Spanish as a comprehensive subject to prepare my students for an AP Spanish Exam for college. I can teach Spanish to students who would like to use it in their travels, or in their current positions at their places of employment. Also, I can provide an enjoyable introduction to the beginning learner of Spanish that is easily understood.

Special Needs

I have a strong background in teaching Special Needs students. As a classroom teacher, I always have at least one or two students with Special Needs. I am very competent and comfortable working with students with IEPs and 504 plans. I am always able to connect with my students, due to the many teaching techniques that I employ in the classroom. I am very patient and creative.

Study Skills

I have a bachelor's degree in the teaching of Spanish and French. In addition, I have an MS graduate degree in Educational Leadership. I am highly qualified to teach study skills to students of all ages.
