I currently tutor two fifth grade students regularly at their homes. They are enrolled in the IEP Program of Indian Prairie School District 204; we work on their English language lessons as prescribed by their Special Education teacher.
If you prefer a public location, I live near the Naperville Library located on 95th Street near Highway 59. It has many student carrels where we could work together.
My interest in teaching began when my sixth grade teacher assigned me to tutor my classmates after I had mastered Roman numerals. My first volunteer teaching experience at age 15 was working with first graders in my church school. After college graduation, having studied to be an elementary education teacher, I taught first graders, emphasizing phonetic reading skills.
In 2013-2014 I found great personal fulfillment as a language arts tutor in a GED program. I was witness to my students newly discovered self-confidence as they learned the language skills needed for the GED test. Our best moments were filled with smiles and laughter.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have used Quickbooks since the program was first introduced in the mid-1980s. I was trained by a CPA to perform general ledger bookkeeping in 1974. When QB became available for manufacturing businesses, I switched to it for my husband's small electronics firm in order to more smoothly track inventory and payroll. I also helped a small church convert to QB, thereby consolidating their various funds and contributions to a single report.
