My task with each student I teach will always be to foster a passion for learning and acquiring the confidence he/she needs to succeed. Since childhood, I have had a knack for teaching; therefore, I am always willing to enthusiastically assist students that are struggling because this is what I love to do.
Recently, I have been involved with the Glen Ellyn's Children's Resource Center. For about a year now, I have been volunteering to tutor children from kindergarten to eighth grade. Working with a variety of students that have different learning abilities, I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I will be able to cater to each student's learning style whether that be visual, tactile, auditory, or even a combination. During my tutoring experience, I have taught subjects including reading, writing, and math. Primarily, my heavy focus has been on reading and writing with elementary education.
With my tutoring services, I will encourage students to set goals for improvement and growth each week. Short homework tasks will be assigned to ensure that the concepts from each lesson were understood. My goal is to help give students that little push that can eventually help them feel confident.
The most rewarding part of tutoring for me is to help the students feel as if they can achieve success without help eventually. My job is to simply steer them in the right direction because I know each student is capable of being independent, they just need that guidance to get them there. I am eagerly willing to get them to a level in which they feel comfortable and confident.
I am currently obtaining a Spanish minor. I started studying Spanish in seventh grade and absolutely fell in love with the language. Since I am not a native Spanish speaker, I know how difficult it might be for students to learn a new language. I have been studying Spanish for several years now, so I am solid on concepts such as conjugation, general grammar, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Grammar can be tricky for anyone! Luckily, grammar has always been a strong subject for me. I would love to assist any students struggling in the area.
I have worked with elementary students at the Glen Ellyn's Children's Resource Center, specifically in the areas of reading and writing. Many students struggled with handwriting and spelling. I was able to come up with various techniques to help them in these areas.
I look forward to working with you! My task with each student I teach will always be to foster a passion for learning and acquiring the confidence he/she needs to succeed. Since childhood, I have had a knack for teaching; therefore, I am always willing to enthusiastically assist students that are struggling because this is what I love to do.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
