I am passionate about teaching and learning. As a lifelong learner, I wish to inspire in students a love of learning and inspire confidence in their academic pursuits. I majored in English and minored in Spanish at University of Illinois, where I earned my bachelor's degree. A desire to further my own education and help students on their own journeys inspired me to earn a master's degree in education at Benedictine University.
Now, as a mother of young children, I have a renewed commitment to guiding students and offering them the tools they need not only to succeed in school, but also to enjoy learning. I hope to foster in them a love of learning that they will carry with them throughout their lives, not just through their academic careers. I believe all children are capable of achieving greatness in their own unique way. I have a proven record of presenting material in a way that engages students and makes the subject relateable to them and their own life experiences.
I minored in Spanish at U of I, because I have always had an interest in world languages and cultures. I very much enjoy celebrating the diversity of our world.
I have achieved an Illinois teaching certificate as part of my master's degree in education. During the course of my studies, I was required to teach several lessons in English at area schools, as well as complete my student teaching in English and Social Studies in a 7th grade classroom. Following that, I worked as a long-term substitute within the same school building, teaching English and Social Studies to a different 7th grade group. Prior to these experiences, I had worked as a substitute teacher in various subjects. I possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as very good proofreading abilities.
I would love the opportunity to help you realize your potential. I look forward to hearing from you! I am passionate about teaching and learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
