My undergraduate degree is in Civil Engineering while my graduate degree is a MBA with concentrations in finance and strategy. These degrees have made my math background extremely strong and, in most cases, second nature. The best way to learn math is through solving problems. Therefore, my teaching strategy is for me to complete a set of problems before a tutoring session, then to go through examples with the student once on site, then answer any possible issues the student may have as they solve their problems during the tutoring session. These problems can either be homework problems from the student's class, or specific problems that I pick out from the student's textbook.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
