I have over 25 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language both in the United States and overseas. I have enjoyed working in ACADEMIC intensive English programs, training international BUSINESS executives, as well as teaching SURVIVAL skills in adult education programs. I have tutored individuals and small groups of all ages who have a variety of goals. I have taught in China and Japan, and have experience helping students from countless other countries. I love learning about other cultures and languages.
I teach all skills that the learner needs to improve their communication skills in English. My areas of specialty include helping improve listening and speaking skills while focusing on pronunciation and "communication repair" strategies. I also help learners strengthen their foundation of English grammar and their ability to write effectively in English.
Once they begin lessons with me, my students are given access to English assistance every day. I encourage them to contact me during the week with English challenges that come up at work or in their daily life. I sometimes am able to respond immediately, but at least within a few hours. I also encourage those students who use English in their daily life to take notes of any communication challenges that come up so we can discuss them in our sessions and come up with strategies about how to respond better in the future. I enjoy helping students grow in confidence and skill as they communicate in English.
The hourly rate is determined by many factors, including how many total hours we meet per week, as well as the location, timing and amount of prep time needed. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd love to design a program to help you reach your goals! Lilly is kind. She is really flexible about conversation topics during lessons. She has a good sense for what you need to improve.
English is not my first language and Lilly really helped me in so many ways. She is very good at explaining grammar, spelling and helping with effective communication. I didn't feel comfortable writing in English because my grammar and spelling was bad, but after a couple of months with Lilly I feel a lot better now. Lilly is great at providing students with helpfull material and she is patient explaining things. I recommend Lilly!
I have studied with Lillian for a couple months. Lillian has always been supportive and patient with me until I completely understand questions. Although I only have studied a couple months, some people already have noticed my English writing and talking skills. Most important piece to learning English is patient and find the right tutor. If you are looking for a tutor who can leap up your English skill, I definitely recommend Lillian as your Tutor!!!
I like Lilly´s class because she makes learning pleasant. She may sing at any moment so I can understand and not forget. I like her patience because I´m a senior citizen. I love her!
Lilly is the best tutor I have ever met.
She always stimulates me and help me to focus on TOEFL. She prepares diverse materials. It made me easy to understand TOEFL. As a result, I gained self-confidence thanks to her. I always enjoy attend our class. Thank you, Lilly.
Lilly has been working with my wife for a couple of months now. She took the time to evaluate her current level of knowledge and develop a personalized program designed just for her. In this short amount of time my wife has progressed significantly. I am anxious to see the amount of progress she will make over the next year.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
