I've worked as an Art Director, Toy Designer, Game Designer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and college level instructor for over 15 years. The professional and artistic skills I've acquired in that time have proven to be an invaluable resource for my students of all skill levels. While many art and design schools provide structure for aspiring designers they often lack the "real world" skills necessary to pursue a career in commercial arts. My goal is to provide young designers with the necessary skills, practical advice, portfolio development, and professional mindset they will need in order to thrive in an often competitive field.

If you are a high school senior or college student looking to pursue commercial art and design professionally I can assist you with bridging the gap between student and working professional. I provide the following services:

- Building an attractive portfolio to show prospective art schools or land your first design job.
- Writing a concise and effective resume.
- Tips and skills on how to properly apply and interview for potential freelance gigs, internships, or full time positions.
- Numerous online tutorials and art resources.
- Assisting you develop your traditional and digital art skills.
- Tutoring for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

I've instructed art and design in a variety of formats: graphic design, illustration, and drawing at the college level. I've also taught children the basics of cartooning and digital photography.

I'm flexible in terms of scheduling and will work with you at YOUR own pace. I'm comfortable and capable of tutoring beginner designs students to seasoned working professionals.

Thanks and I look forward to mentoring you!
- Matt

Informative and Patient

My son who is ADHD & ASD1 ( Asperger's ) and applying to Art College met with Matt for portfolio help. Matt gave him a TON of websites to check out, artists to follow, as well as specific suggestions to improve his artwork. He was great at redirecting my son when he got distracted and was very patient the entire lesson. We will definitely use Matt again!!

Hands on Tutor

The classes I have taken with Matt were very useful, as my knowledge about Illustrator and Photoshop was very limited. During my two sessions, we have accomplished going through the basics as well as more detailed questions which helped me a lot to successfully get through my university assignments for design classes. I strongly recommend trying out his classes as his approach is very professional, focusing on clients' individual needs. Personally, I prefer to spend time on tasks I need to work on rather than wasting my time searching for tips online. Matt will save your time, help you to achieve your goals and vision, and feel excited about the digital tools you embrace during the online classes.

Excellent

Another great class. Matt is happy to give a straightforward lesson but lets me direct our time when I want, then fleshes out the area I’m focused on as we go. My favorite way to learn.

Beside the knowledge Matt has the temperament and communication skills of a very good teacher. I was looking for a way to crack the intimidating complexity of Adobe Illustrator and my lessons with Matt were exactly what I needed. I highly recommend.
