I have a master's in Special Ed, specializing in working with students with learning challenges, emotional or behavioral disorders (adhd, depression, anxiety etc.). I believe everyone can learn and be motivated toward becoming life long learners. I individualize my material to fit the needs of each student. I have 14 years of experience with IEP and Advocacy for students in both the public, private and therapeutic teaching environments.
I most enjoy working with teens and young adults. I have tutored throughout my career but also worked in business settings so my style is with an eye towards real world application of knowledge and life skills. I am considered highly qualified in 7 areas by the state of IL and am certified for grades K-12 and ages 5-25.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a classroom instructor for 14 years plus 20 years of experience in the business world, I have real world experience in public speaking. I also took a number of communication and public speaking classes at University of Illinois during my bachelor's in economics. I have also taught public speaking as part of my language arts curriculum both in the therapuetic and public school settings. I cover in this curriculum organizational skills for presenting information, verbal and nonverbal skills for speaking and strategies for expressing one's self in a public speaking experience.
I have a master's in special ed from Northeastern Illinois University in 2002. I graduated with concentration in working with students with learning disabilities, emotional and behavior disorders as will as mild cognitive impairment. I have worked in both a therapeutic and public school setting for the past 13 years in both cross cat classrooms, self contained, and resource settings.
