Bio

I am a retired special education and ELL teacher of special education with 27 years experience. I am also the author of approximately 40 books for young people. My books have won many awards, such as Notable Books in Social Studies, and Children's Choice Awards. As a teacher, I was in charge of my school's Young Authors' program and encouraged many students to become better writers and readers. Because of my writing knowledge our school had two district and three city-wide wins.

I am a retired special education and ELL teacher of special education with 27 years experience. I am also the author of approximately 40 books for young people. My books have won many awards, such as Notable Books in Social Studies, and Children's Choice Awards. As a teacher, I was in charge of my school's Young Authors' program and encouraged many students to become better writers and readers. Because of my writing knowledge our school had two district and three city-wide wins.

In addition to having had a very successful teaching and writing career, I have also been a Pillsbury Bake-Off finalist three times in a row. Additionally three of my recipes will be featured in Taste of Home magazine as prize winning recipes. I believe everyone is able to learn and be creative. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am an outstanding reading and writing tutor because I encourage students to use their strengths to be successful.

I am available most weekday afternoons and weekends. I look forward to working with you to see how you can become more successful in reading and writing.

My first book and first attempt at writing won The Romance Writers of The Year Award for best young adult novel of the year. Three of my books in social studies were cited as Notable Books in Social Studies. One of my books has been excerpted as a selection in the Harcourt Brace basal reading series. During my career as a Chicago public school teacher, I was in charge of my school's Young Authors' program. I encouraged many students and educators to improve their writing skills. Two of our students won first place in the district. Two others won the first place city award.
