I am a certified Special Education and Elementary Education teacher. For the last 6 years I have taught at Whittier Primary School in Peoria District 150 and have greatly enjoyed working with students and helping them reach their academic goals and aspirations. I knew that I wanted to teach back in grade school when I had great teachers and tutors that helped me to reach goals and dreams that I never thought I could in school. I then set my heart to be a full time teacher as a career. I graduated from Bradley University with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education certifications. It is one of the great joys of my life to teach and to connect with my students in a personal but appropriate manner. My style of teaching involves detail oriented focus on the mechanics of the curriculum but also being abstract and flexible in how I present it to the student based on his or her learning styles. This is one of my main strong points is that I have significant experience in adapting and modifying curriculum based on my Special Education training and experience. I look forward to helping your students reach his or her academic goals and helping to build confidence in the student through academic success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

It is vitally important for a student to have good study skills and as an aspiring student growing up, I had to learn good study skills to get me through school and college. Study skills are the meat and potatoes of learning in that if you do not have good study skills, you cannot learn in an efficient manner. I have experience in teaching study skills through working with students on a one on one basis who struggled with study skills because of special needs and challenges.
