About Brian

I am a current Bilingual (Spanish) and ESL teacher for students in Grades K-5, and I also tutor older students and adults in these subjects, as well as other school subjects. I graduated 3rd in my high school class of 330, so I have a broad understanding of the different high school subjects. I graduated magna cum laude in college, so I have a good understanding of my college major, which was Spanish. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how I can help you grow in your knowledge of Spanish or another subject area! Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have been a Sunday School teacher in my church for the past 5 years. I teach the students a different Bible story each week. I also went to a Christian school from Grades K-8 and learned many different Bible stories and memorized many different Bible passages while there.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been an ESL teacher for students in Grades K-8 in a public school for the past 5 years. Before that, I was a Bilingual 1st grade teacher in a public school for 2 years. I am certified to teach students from Grades K-9 in the State of Illinois. I also hold a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

Phonics

I was a bilingual first grade teacher for two years and taught students how to read in English and Spanish using the phonics components of both languages.
