I currently teach GED students in a variety of subject areas, as well as working with those who need to enhance study skills, motivation and have issues with school avoidance/anxiety. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Throughout my teaching career I have worked with many Aspergers students from all different levels on the spectrum. In addition to teaching, I am also a certified school counselor who can work with students on social skills.
I worked as a college Career Advisor for several years. As a Career Advisor, I became familiar with many different career inventories, which I am able to give and interpret. I can also work with individuals in need of assistance with college selection and motivation.
I currently teach GED Reading, Writing/Grammar, Science and Social Studies and can help with the basics of the math section. I have access to study materials for the GED test and am very familiar with the GED testing process (sign up, testing site and grading).
