I am a native Spanish speaker from Spain, and have previous experience as an ESOL Paraprofessional as well as volunteer experience teaching Spanish to elementary students in an after-school Spanish Club. I have translated for the Florida Association of Nursing Assistants, dental offices, and public polling organizations. I have instantaneously interpreted in medical offices, and some legal proceedings. I have lived in the U.S. for 30 years, have 3 grown children, all bilingual and I have resided in Lisle with my family for the past 10 years.
My love of tutoring and teaching my native language comes from being a mother, and from being away from my native country, and educating my own children the importance of being multi-lingual. Travel back to Spain has taught my children the culture of countries other than the United States, shown them the importance of being multi-lingual and given them a new perspective on the importance of learning. My daughter is using her fluency in Spanish in her current career with a major motion picture studio in California.
I offer compassion, love of children and love of languages. I am fluent in Spanish, English, and Catalan, and somewhat conversational in French, Italian and Portuguese. Having raised three children, one a set of twins, has taught me that learning another language can be fun.
I have picture books, music, rhymes, and I make learning fun. We can learn through cooking, through crafts, and through videos. Real Castilian Spanish is a universal language, as opposed to local dialects, slang, or Spanglish. Call for more information, I would love to help you learn the language and culture of España.
