University of Illinois at Chicago (Architecture)
Hello! My name is Dana. I have tutored high school students previously with Kaplan Test Prep for a few years primarily for ACT and general math tutoring, Also, I have worked with elementary and middle school level students at after school programs as a teacher assistant-counselor helping students with homework and guidance in a classroom setting. My educational background is a B.S. degree in Architecture, a minor study in music theory, and I currently have a certificate in clinical Massage Therapy. Having these skills in multiple subjects, and using them frequently, has given me opportunity to help others learn and understand different subjects instead of specializing in just one area. Math, music, and anatomy are the three main subjects I can tutor, as well as design software and other related arts.
I love tutoring because I can focus on each students' needs with full attention to their progress since it is usually a one-on-one or small group setting. With a passion for people, I have been blessed with a lot of patience, and can communicate well with others. I enjoy helping others learn, achieve goals, and succeed. Everyone learns differently and at different paces. I quickly can connect to students and understand their strengths and weaknesses, thus helping them improve quicker by using different tutoring methods per student's needs and keep up with each student's progress level.
Be proud of yourself that you are looking to strengthen different subjects. Whether it be for test prep, better grades, or overall improvement, never be afraid to ask for help. I encourage students to receive tutoring to conquer any subject difficulties as well as goal setting for your education. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson. Have a great day!

We have only had a few sessions with Dana. But she has already made a difference. My son is so much more confident and has a much better understanding of what he's doing in math. Thank you Dana!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have used AutoCAD for close to 8 years for architectural drawings. However, the latest version I am familiar with is the 2009 edition, but I am capable of teaching basic commands needed to use the software.
I completed minor (2 years) studies in general music theory and ear training. Also, I currently have worked with choir to teach ear training and vocal pitch matching.
I have a minor degree study in music theory. I currently use my music knowledge to help write and play music at church. Also, I have taught music theory, and beginners the fundamentals of reading and writing music.
