I have a genuine concern for the value of education, combined with my passion and commitment to educating students. Successful teachers practice positive interaction with their students. In teaching, this interaction often determines the learning success of each student and classroom. Master teachers give respect to each student because students know this works both ways. When this mutual respect is in place quality learning takes place as it has always been in any teaching/learning environment in my career.
I strive to make my teaching educational and fun. During past years as a mother, camp counselor and teacher, I remember that students want to enjoy themselves while learning. I incorporate literature, educational games, technology, creativity and self-esteem building games as I continue to develop new and creative ways to teach all concepts.
Although I have learned many valuable lessons in my past years of teaching. I know I have a life time of learning ahead of me in choosing to be an excellent educator. It is a career I pursue wholeheartedly because I believe so strongly that children must have good teachers. I am one of them. I believe students learn on so many different levels by integrating history, geography, language arts, reading, mathematics with each other in the learning environment. In order to teach various styles I present new concepts visually, aurally, and utilize hands on tools. I promise to continue to teach my students to care about themselves and others, to read and write and perform well in all subjects and to always try their best in class and in life. Joanna was able to make sure my daughter understood everything that they went over in her various subjects. My daughter was able to really make sense of her assignments. Also, my daughter usually dislikes doing homework altogether and with Joanna she seemed to actually enjoy getting the homework done.
Joanna is very patient with my kids and made the lesson fun for them. She is also very flexible in the materials that she's teaching. She had no problem changing her agenda when I asked her to go over certain things with my kids during the lessons. She's great with my kids and they like her a lot.
Joanna is demonstrating patience and expertise with our daughter as she catches up in math. The lessons are going well.
All my kids love Joanna and are eager to learn from her. My 3rd grade girl learns math from her and my preschooler gets reading help. She is very organized person and very patient. She has lots of experiences and knows how to attract kids to learn. We are glad to find her at WyzAnt here.
She always gives us detailed notes and review, which I really like.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an Art Minor, and have taught classroom art for two years to students, ages fourth grade to eighth grade in Fox Lake during the years 1973 to 1975. I have always been a firm believer that when Art is incorporated into all subjects, students truly love learning, and learn how to develop a passion for Art and learn that they all have amazing creativity to utilize in every walk of life. We have so many uses for Art and when started at an early age the minds of children open up to so much more, realizing they are Picassos and Rembrandts.
I am an educator with twenty four years of experience in the elementary education field. My passion is and always will be to continue to make a difference in every students life. Each student learns with so many different tools, that the education and teaching must be assured to be geared for every student. I continue to work with students, fellow educators, and parents to ensure success for each student. My Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from National Lewis, (was originally named National College of Education), and my Masters Degree in Instruction and Curriculum from Concordia University ensure me I have the necessary background and desire to be an educator.
I have strong knowledge with primary math, Algebra, Geometry, and utilization of all my teaching and learning methods to incorporate the Common Core standards.
My qualifications include a bachelor's on education, a master's in curriculum and instruction and proud to share that I was able to help my parents who were immigrants from Italy, and lived in Highwood learn to speak, read, and write English.
I consider myself to be highly qualified to work with and teach E.S.L. students. I not only have over 26 years of teaching experience, but have had the pleasure of educating my Italian Immigrant parents, along with endless relatives and friends in the Italian neighborhood I grew up in to learn to speak, read, and write fluid English.
I am very proud to share with you that I have 25 years of teaching experience. Twenty of these years have been teaching primary grades, 1st. to 3rd. grade. Phonics and giving speeches is key to becoming an outstanding reader and writer, along with building self esteem. I hold strong to building those first three years as a foundation for being a positive, strong achiever. I am still in communication with many of my former students, as they share their growth of education and life with me. Look forward to meeting you and discussing your son's education.
I have, in my Elementary Education background, accumulated and learned numerous methods which guarantee your child will develop and retain for all his life .
I am also familiar with what is expected of all children, grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in State Standards, and I continue to reach beyond expectations, so all students will have a life long passion for learning and success.
I have taught Special Education as an assistant for three years, and also worked with assisting children who had a 504 in place and needed to move forward with an I.E.P.. I was asked to share some of the educational needs also given to my youngest son, and is now 32, and attending Devry with an I.E.P.in place, which his teachers and I collated. He is maintaining an A average.
I have always believed that every student will continue to be successful as long as every one is on the same track, and all educators and parents will put in place whatever methods necessary for every student, knowing that there is an endless array of possibilities. I utilize aural, kinesthetic, and visual learning opportunities, as well as technology and other students working with each other to reach their goals and go way beyond expectations, so ultimately, each student will feel very good about learning and want to keep moving forward. I sincerely look forward to continuing my educational road, and looking for smiles, and ultimate achieved goals and beyond.
I have been an educator for 25 years and have always shown primary grades (k -8) and high school students many ways to approach each subject including visual, aurally, and kinesthetically. Using these methods, and technology if desired or needed, every student has always found the exact tools need to master skills.
