Hi there!

I am a graduate from Illinois Wesleyan University where I received two degrees in Psychology and Hispanic Studies. In Hispanic Studies, I reached a 3.8 GPA. I studied abroad in Seville, Spain for 6 months in Spring 2014. In Spain, I lived with a host family and only spoke Spanish to my host family. All of my courses were taught in Spanish as well. I reached a 4.0 during my time abroad in Seville. Thus, I am fluent in Spanish reading, writing, and speaking. I am also a graduate from Marquette University Law school where I obtained my Juris Doctor.

I began tutoring in high school, helping students with Spanish, basic math, and English/Literature. In college, I also continued to tutor students in more advanced Spanish. However, I am open to tutoring students in a range of subjects. I have worked with a wide range of students beginning from eight years old to college-age, as well as non-traditional students. I have worked with students one on one as well as in small groups. I took many English courses in my undergraduate career, excelling in writing, reading, grammar, and proofreading. I have proofread many papers before, from middle school to high school, as well as some of my collegiate peers' papers (both in English and Spanish).

I absolutely love working with children and helping them reach their fullest potential. I am very patient, calm, enthusiastic, and passionate about what I do.

After viewing my profile, I hope you feel comfortable reaching out to me. My calm demeanor, loyal personality, and positive attitude makes me confident that I can provide you with the best experience possible! I hope to hear from you soon.

Handwriting

Depending on the initial handwriting ability of the student, I am able to formulate a lesson plan that will allow the student to progress. By creating specialized worksheets, each student is able to practice writing particular letters and eventually formulate words and full sentences. I am able to help work on technique by demonstrating where the starting and ending point of each letter are. Posture, paper position, grip, and spacing are important so I work with students to form proper placement of each letter.
Phonics,

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have been working as a Teacher's Assistant for the past 7 months in multi-needs classroom with students with severe autism. While keeping each of their personal goals in mind, I teach and guide these students to achieve each of their goals in each subject. For math, I help detail lesson plans for each individual student whether it be counting on the number line, or doing simple addition and subtraction problems. Each activity is planned so that each student has a chance to learn and participate. In reading, I help guide each student through passages by sounding out words with them and pointing to each word. I am able to incorporate each student's personal objectives into an activity to ensure that the student meets their yearly requirements. For non verbal students, I help tailor activities that allows them to participate, too.
