About James

Teaching is my passion! Currently, I teach high school science and enjoy every minute of it. Outside of teaching, my tutoring experience extends nearly ten years. I have tutored hundreds of students not only in elementary, high school, and college academic settings, but private home sessions as well.

Education is the pathway to opportunity and success. My ultimate goal is to help break down any barrier standing in your way to achieving this success.

I tutor statistics, biology, algebra, geometry, probability, chemistry, English grammar, and a wide range of other subjects. Just ask! My style of tutoring is highly effective, and sessions are well planned. Every second of your lesson is catered to your success!

My aura is positive, inspirational, motivational, and peaceful. I hold extremely high academic expectations and want every student to become confident in their subject immediately after our first few sessions.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My hobbies are volunteering, practicing piano, leisure reading, solving challenging math and science questions, visiting zoos and nature centers, listening to educationally inspiring debates in business, economics and politics, practicing Swedish, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

My experience in tutoring algebra and other math subjects is rich! I have been employed multiple years in both colleges and elementary schools teaching and tutoring students in math and science.

Over the last seven years I have tutored hundreds of students in math, from children to adults. I have received many awards and certificates for excellence in tutoring. I have also received extensive tutoring training that highly qualifies me to help students with learning disabilities succeed in math.

Biology is my passion! I currently hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and have a strong appreciation for the life sciences. I have a deep understanding of every biological concept you are likely to come across in a biology course. I have tutored hundreds of high school and college students in biology over the last seven years. I am highly qualified and capable to discuss any biological science topic at an advanced level.

As a biology major during college, I had to take many chemistry courses. In fact, a great amount of biology actually requires a strong understanding of chemistry. Over the last seven years I have tutored hundreds of high school and college students in chemistry.

Elementary Math

I have a tremendous amount of experience teaching and tutoring Elementary Math. For multiple years I have worked in elementary and grammar schools with the sole responsibility of helping academically struggling schools increase their math scores.

Whether the elementary math is being taught from a textbook, or taught from a special online program, I have had lots of experience teaching and tutoring all age ranges in elementary math.

To speak or write with perfect English grammar only takes patience and practice. I have been studying English grammar at an advanced level for the last decade. I have also worked at colleges and elementary schools as a tutor helping students succeed in English. I have lots of experience teaching Standard English grammar and proofreading essays.

Regardless of one's dialect or educational background, I am highly qualified to prepare him or her to immediately begin speaking and writing with perfect English grammar.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and have conducted genetics research at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A genetics course was one of the required core courses for my major. Also, most of the courses I have taken in biological science covered varying amounts of genetics instruction and overlap. Finally, genetics is my most fascinating discipline of biology, and I have spent a great amount of time interpreting genetics concepts and solving application problems. Finally, I have years of experience tutoring biology, in which genetics problems have come up.
