I have recently relocated to Texas from Michigan, where I was a middle school teacher for 15 years. Although I was certified to teach all subjects, my specialty was English, which heavily emphasizes grammar in the middle school years. I was also a Teacher-Consultant and a Teacher-Leader for the Wayne State branch of the National Writing Project. My involvement with the NWP allowed me to stay current in my craft both as a teacher and a writer.

Elementary Math

As a middle-school teacher I was assigned to teach a self-contained (all subjects) classroom for 11 of the 15 years I taught. All of the students in my first cohort passed the state test in mathematics. As I gained teaching experience, I learned to use math centers and online technology to improve my skills as a teacher. One student (6th grade), in my last class, moved from a 3rd grade level to a high school level in one year. Although his progress was the most remarkable, the majority of the students in this class advanced well past one grade level.

Wonderful Person!

Mrs. Bonnie is such a great lady. She worked with my children, aged 13 and 10, for the past year and a half. Working through a variety of subjects with our children we witnessed Mrs. Bonnie apply dedication to her craft. It reflected positively on our childrens grades in GISD. I want Mrs. Bonnie to know the our family, of Garland, Tx, will miss Mrs. Bonnie and pray for her and her family as she advances on a new exciting journey in life closer to her wonderful family. We are going to cherish our next couple of weeks together and thank you soooo much from the bottom of our hearts.

Great preparation for middle school

My son has had 4 lessons so far with Bonnie and she has been wonderful with him. This is his first time with a tutor and I am glad he is having such a positive experience. He actually came home excited about his lesson! She assessed his reading and writing level quickly and directed attention specifically to where he needed help the most. He is learning to be more conscientious about his writing and we are very thankful. She is 5-10 minutes early to arrive and gives a brief overview of what she did with during the lesson afterwards, as well as an email report. She is also quick to respond to emails and texts.
